Mark Fox,

Head of School

Welcome to the International School of Lusaka.

Our school is a great place to learn and work. ISL’s spacious campus is a green oasis in the city centre where we have many modern, attractive classrooms, and are working to upgrade the rest.

Our Philosophy

International School of Lusaka seeks to foster a unified community built on the principles of mutual respect and understanding – a community wherein each individual feels welcome, safe, included and valued. Through internationally accredited educational programmes, ISL aims to instil in all students a genuine desire to learn and the conviction that education is life-long and open-ended. ISL does not align itself to any political or religious creed.

Interculturalism and internationalism are the heart of our learning environment, and inquiry, creativity, action and reflection are the pulse. We celebrate our diversity by recognising our differences and embracing what we have in common for the benefit of all.

Our Aims:

1.

To provide a holistic educational programme, which supports the development of each student in a safe and inclusive environment.

Governance

ISL is owned and operated as a not-for-profit association, run by a Board of Governors composed of nine members who are all parents of current students. The association, which consists of parents - who are voting members, as well as teachers and their families - who are non-voting members, elects the members. The Head of School is a non-voting, ex-officio member of the Board.

The Board of Governors oversees the running of the School and sets policy. Members serve for three-year terms and may be elected for a second concurrent term.
