Mission Statement
The International School of Lusaka (ISL) is a self-governing educational institution offering both primary and secondary education to the children of the international community, foreign residents, and Zambian nationals. Our international nature is reflected in the curriculum we offer and in the nationalities of both students and educators. Through an integrated program that meets the needs of a wide range of cultures, we prepare students to communicate effectively as citizens of the world who will cherish life-long learning.
History– Governance – Administration – School Standards & Accreditation
The International School of Lusaka, founded in 1963, is one of the oldest International Schools on the continent of Africa. There are approximately 700 students from over 50 different nationality groups. The teaching staff consists of over 40 professional educators from 15 countries.
The School is governed by a Board of Governors, nine of whom are elected by the ISL Association. The Association is composed of the parents of students attending ISL.
The administration of the School is directed by the Head of School, who is supported by the Deputy Head of School, the Secondary Principal, Primary Principal and the Business and Administration Manager.
The International School of Lusaka is fully accredited by the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). This accreditation was first awarded in March 1996 and the standards required for international accreditation are maintained by a constant review process.
