ISL is composed of a multi-national and
multi-cultural school community. Consequently, ISL does not adhere to
any political or religious creed. The curriculum is designed to enable
students to enter ISL from a variety of different national and cultural
backgrounds and to move on to other international schools or
institutions of higher learning. Students of the school shall have the
opportunity to mature in such a way that they can take their places as
citizens of the world, respecting the differences of race, creed, and
culture.
ISL is committed to the achievement of
excellence and provides an educational programme that is designed to
meet the intellectual, social, ethical, emotional, and physical needs of
children through all stages of their development. The curriculum,
pedagogy and organisational structure of the school shall be assessed by
the standards expected of a school committee to achieve and maintain
International Accreditation.
ISL is committed to the well-being and
development of the entire faculty and staff, who are expected to strive
constantly for higher standards of performance and achievement.
ISL firmly believes in establishing,
promoting, and maintaining a teacher-parent partnership to enhance
student academic performance and school-community life.
ISL strives to promote a caring
environment for all members of the school community. A spirit of mutual
respect and co-operation governs faculty-student relationships. ISL
believes that the participation and interaction of all sectors of the
school community help to enrich the entire school programme.
ISL regards the student as an integrated
whole with individual abilities and needs. Students are measured not
only by external standards, but also by the self-improvement and
personal progress made on a continual basis.
ISL promotes close positive relations
between the school and Zambian institutions and organisations. In
addition, the school maintains that the study of Zambian culture is an
important aspect of its programme.
ISL
believes that providing an international education in a multi-cultural
setting will foster tolerance and understanding to help bring us closer
to world peace.
ISL recognizes the fundamental importance
of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights and fully subscribes to the
principles expressed in the declaration. As an educational institution
it gives particular importance to Article 26 - Section 2:"Education shall be directed to the full development of the human
personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and
fundamental freedoms. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and
friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups, and shall
further the activities of the United Nations for the maintenance of
peace."
